The In-School Music Program was begun by long time Clear Lake Symphony
supporter Blanche Stastny in 1995.
The Clear Lake Symphony has a wonderful relationship with surrounding
communities and presents an American History in Cultural Music in the public schools
as part of their In-School Music Education Program.
In 2015 - 2016 Teams of 3 players each (3 winds, 3 strings, 3 brass) arrange to visit local
elementary schools where they give demonstrations of their instruments
followed by a mini concert. CLS Liaison, Sherrie Matula, and CCISD
Director of Visual and Performing Arts, Dean Muths, coordinated the schools.
In 2015 - 2016, the Clear Lake Symphony Dixieland Combo presented concerts
and discussions of music history in America in CCISD elementary schools. Schools
visited in the 2015 - 2016 Season included: Ferguson Elementary, Hyde
Elementary and Mossman Elementary. Over 300 students from the 3rd, 4th
and 5th grades at each of these schools were in attendance. Each
student was given an Student & Adult Voucher to attend a concert of their
The symphony is dedicated to the
musical education of our children and brings classical music to the
public schools, at no cost to the students or taxpayers, through
classroom demonstrations and discussions. The Symphony annually donates
numerous tickets to students to provide them with the opportunity to
